Eco-Rangers
Surrey's volunteer Eco Rangers provide Surrey Parks' visitors with more meaningful park experiences by providing public education opportunities on natural and cultural history. Surrey is fortunate to have many beautiful natural area parks that provide homes and food for a great diversity of wildlife. Eco Rangers make others aware of the importance and value of the natural areas in their own community and the wildlife that need them for survival.
The Eco-Ranger Program is the volunteer-based component of Surrey's Natural Areas Partnership (SNAP). The Green Timbers Heritage Society, Sunnyside Acres Heritage Society and the White Rock and Surrey Naturalists have joined forces with the City of Surrey to restore and enhance natural areas in Surrey and provide the public with educational opportunities.
You may have seen Eco-Rangers in Blackie Spit Park, Sunnyside Acres Urban Forest, Green Timbers Urban Forest and Bear Creek Park last summer; and you can be sure that they will be back in these parks again this year! Why not join them?
Volunteer recruitment happens from May through June, with training occurring in June. Eco Rangers are in the parks during the summer months of July and August with possibilities for extension into the fall.
